A community-driven project
African Machine Translation, built with the people who speak the languages.
A research team at the University of British Columbia, working with Microsoft Africa and partner institutions across Africa and internationally. We build high-quality machine translation datasets together with African language scholars, researchers and community members.
The aim is to capture the cultural, regional and domain-specific nuance that existing datasets miss. The project connects African languages with English, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Arabic, across domains that reflect the linguistic richness of the continent.
LinguaFlow is where that work happens. Pick a language pair, take a task from the pool, and translate.
